Jeffery Donald Gurney

Jeff Gurney, 62, of Amarillo passed away at home on May 23, 2022. His sudden departure has left his family and friends shocked and grieved, but also resolved to work together to honor his life and memory.

Jeff is survived by his wife Alicia Muñoz Gurney, his son, Jeffrey James Gurney, and stepson, Chris Garza; sisters: Teresa Stockton, Rebecca Gurney Powe, Anita Ward, Beth Gurney Griesmer, and a brother Brad Gurney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Don and Lynne Gurney.

Jeff served and retired as an Amarillo Police Officer and Probation Officer. Being in law enforcement was his dream since early childhood. He enjoyed garage sales, collecting coins, antiques, original Star Wars figures and old cars. His favorite car was a 1973 Ford Mustang. He also liked to gather with loved ones to share memories and funny stories.

Jeff loved his family and sought to honor his parents his whole life. He will be missed. He will be remembered for his humor, caring and thriftiness.
